Kozak set to represent Bulldogs and Hock in EMASS All-Star Game

Junior Damian Kozak will brave the cold conditions today and play in the Eastern Mass. All Star Game  at Quincy's Veteran's Memorial Stadium at 1:00pm.
Kozak earned All-Hockomock Honors for the second straight season for his fine work this fall. He also received the even more exclusive honor of EMASS All-Star, something only bestowed on the Hock's top 7 players. Good luck to Damian in today's game.

Off-Field News

Congratulations go out to Sam Larson ('14) and Damian Kozak ('15) on recently being named to the Hockomock League All-Star team. It is a repeat honor for both Larson and Kozak who were honored by the League in 2012 as well. They both join a short list of repeat Boys Soccer All-Hock recipients. Bart O'Brien ('15) was also honored by the League earning Hock Honorable Mention status for his exceptional 2013 season.

Kozak also nabbed the added recognition of being named to the Eastern Mass. All-Star team, an honor bestowed annually on the best players from the eastern half of the state. The Hockomock recognizes its 7 best players every season with this honor. Kozak is only the 4th underclassmen to earn the honor in Bulldog Boys Soccer history---Chris Murray ('12)  in '09, '10 and '11......Ramon Ambrosio- ('11) in '09 and '10...and Danny Boreham ('02) in '00.  Kozak's 12 points in 2013 also moves him into the top 15 scorers in Bulldog history- tied with coach Danny Erickson ('89) with 30 career points in 15th place.

Kozak and O'Brien were named captains of the 2014 squad at the 2013 Banquet earlier this week.

Squad bows out of tourney

The Boys Soccer team fell 2-1 at Duxbury in the first round of the state tournament on Saturday afternoon.

The squad came out strong earning two good early chances but failed to capitalize. Much of the next 60 minutes belonged to the Dragons who dominated the game physically and territorially during that stretch, scoring two goals along the way.

Sam Larson hit the goal of the game midway through the 2nd half on a bomb of a shot from 18 yards out which left the Duxbury keeper helpless and pulled the Bulldogs within one goal. However, the 'dogs couldn't muster many additional chances and the clock simply ran out on the 2013 season.

Senior goalkeeper Arthur McNally was phenomenal in the Bulldog goal, playing perhaps the finest game of his exceptional Bulldog career.

Fellow seniors Eric Wong, Andre Dorofeev, Wolph Gustave and Larson all had strong games for the Bulldogs.

The loss marks an end of one of the most remarkable runs of tournament success in EMASS Boys Soccer history as the Bulldogs had advanced to at least the South Sectional Semi-Final every year from 2006 thru 2012- a 7 year run that saw the team win more than 2 tourney games for every 1 they lost.

Boys finish regular season with a road win

Friday saw the regular season come to a close with a 2-0 road win at Stoughton. The Black Knights have been one of the hottest teams in the league down the stretch earning some big Hockomock wins of late, including a recent 4-2 win over Milford. But the Bulldogs came to play. Despite first half dominance, the 'dogs found themselves where they have been many-a-time this season at the half, tied at 0-0. The team had control of the half but failed to create many solid scoring chances.

The 2nd half saw the team's dominance continue- this time creating great chances but not finishing. It wasn't until less than 10 minutes to go that Damian Kozak poked a shot from just inside the 18 to the far post, beating the Stoughton keeper and putting the 'dogs on the board. Then, with just 3 minutes remaining, Liam Collins headed a ball off of a Bart O'Brien corner kick, over the Black Knight goalkeeper for the insurance tally. O'Brien had also assisted on Kozak's first goal.

Art McNally finished the regular season with an impressive 8th shutout and a gaa of 1.06. McNally's fine play all season was also accompanied by the tremendous defensive effort put in by Sam Larson, Danny Klein and Georgio Papakonstantino.
The team will find out its post-season draw on Wednesday morning with the first games set to kick off next Friday or Saturday.

Qualified!

Tuesday night at home saw the Bulldogs play tremendous soccer in a 3-1 win over Foxboro, earning two crucial points and qualifying for the State Tournament for the 8th consecutive year and for the 16th out of the past 18 years.

The Boys came out flying but did not create many chances in the first half and despite dominating play, the game was scoreless at the break. But the 2nd half was a different story. The team came out flying. Bart O'Brien's cross just 2 minutes into the half found Eric Wong in front of the net, and he finished it to start the scoring off. Not long after, Andre Dorofeev slid a rocket of a cross by the Warrior goalkeeper for his first goal of the year. The 'dogs continued to dominate possession and territory but Foxboro made the most of a corner kick late in the game, cutting the lead in half. But just minutes later, O'Brien struck a beautiful shot to the upper near post, beating the Warrior goalkeeper and icing the win and the state tournament berth.

The team will finish out the regular season on Friday as they travel to Stoughton.

'Dogs play to scoreless draw with Sharon- Raise Breast Cancer Awareness

Despite some very strong play from the Bulldogs at home on Thursday night against the Sharon Eagles, the team was unable to find the back of the goal for the 3rd straight game and had to settle for a 0-0. The draw leaves the Bulldogs in need of one point in their final two games to qualify for the state tournament.

The shutout is the team's 6th out of the last 8 games. Goalkeeper Art McNally has been in goal for every game this year and has earned a total of 7 shutouts.

The team wore pink jerseys in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Dogs earn key point in 0-0 draw with OA

The Dogs played undefeated Oliver Ames to a scoreless draw at home Tuesday night earning a big point on the way to tournament qualification.

The game started off with the Bulldogs dominating in territory and possession and also saw the team create two great chances, but neither one were converted and the team settled in to a remainder of the first half being dominated by OA.

The second half was a different story as the game was very even with both teams getting a handful of looks at goal. Art McNally earned his 6th shutout of the season with help from the back three of Sam Larson, Danny Klein and Georgio Papakonstantinou.

The team has three games remaining and need two points to qualify for the state tournament.

'Dogs can't ride momentum from big win...fall at Miflord

The squad was looking to use the momentum of the big mid-week win over Mansfield to get a result at Milford on Friday, but the three games in five days seemed to wear out the Bulldogs as they appeared sluggish for much of the Davenport battle.

The team surrendered a goal in each of the halves and created many chances throughout the game but lacked the final piece on the day.

Bulldogs shut out First Place Kelley-Rex Mansfield

The Boys rebounded from a 3-1 loss at KP on Monday with a huge 4-0 win over Kelley-Rex leading Mansfield at home on Wednesday.

The 'dogs scored two goals in each half. The first half saw Pat Hession score his first career goal to get things going early in the first half. Just two minutes later, Wolph Gustave found the ball on the far post and buried it.

The second half saw Gustave strike again as Eric Wong won a ball deep in Mansfield's area and found Gustave in front of an empty net. Not long after, Damian Kozak made up for an errant PK minutes earlier by tucking in a goal at the near post.

Art McNally earned his 5th shutout of the season. The team improved to 7-5-1 and will head to Milford on Friday.

Dog's win 2nd straight in shutout of Taunton

The Bulldogs followed up its 2-0 win over Stoughton with a 3-0 win over visiting Taunton on Thursday night at Memorial Field. The win improves the team's record to 5-5-1 and marks the third straight shutout performance for the surging Bulldogs.

Damian Kozak opened up the scoring with a calm finish just beyond the midway point of the 1st half off of a beautiful pass from Eric Wong. Just two minutes later, Wong slung a long throw-in that found Bart O'Brien at the far post and O'Brien buried it for the 2-0 half time lead.

The game remained at 2-0 throughout much of the 2nd half but the Bulldogs continued fine play highlighted by the midfield group of Sam Papakonstantino, Pat Hession, Liam Collins and Andre Dorofeev. Chances were generated by the Bulldogs throughout the game. O'Brien's 2nd goal of the game came off of a Kozak pass with about 12 minutes left in the contest, icing the game for the Green and White.

The 'dogs played flawlessly down the stretch as goalkeeper Art McNally earned his 3rd straight shutout with fine play by Sam Larson, Danny Klein and Georgio Papakonstantio on defense.

The team has a busy week next week as they travel to KP Monday, host Mansfield Wednesday and travel to Milford on Friday.

Dogs end winless and scoreless streak with shutout win over Stoughton

It has been a tough stretch for the Bulldogs of late, but a 2-0 home win over Stoughton High School Tuesday night ended a three game winless and scoreless streak.

Senior Goalkeeper Art McNally earned his second consecutive shutout and third of the season in the win over the Knights. The Bulldogs controlled most of the play and created many chances early. Liam Collins got the 'dogs on the board first, with a great individual effort on the right side for his second goal of the season. The second goal came midway through the 2nd half on an Eric Wong throw-in which was perfected flicked on by Sam Larson and emphatically finished into the back of the net by Bart O'Brien (his third goal of the season).

It was a great team effort with some great play put in by Larson, Gerogio Papakonstantino, Danny Klein and Pat Hession.

The squad will host Taunton High School on Thursday night at 6:00pm.

Papkonstantino goal in final two minutes lifts 'dogs

The boys came out flying at home on Wednesday afternoon, playing their best half of soccer in the first 40 minutes of the game against Milford. Liam Collins scored his first career goal on a great finish off a corner kick that gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 halftime lead. The squad created tons of first half chances but had to settle for the 1 goal lead at the break.

The second half saw the Green and White have to defend quite a bit more as the Hawks sent lots of numbers forward, but the team held them off until the visitors finally broke through and scored the game-tying goal with just 4 minutes remaining. But rather than let that take the wind out of their sails, the Bulldogs came storming back, creating several good chances in the waning minutes of the game culminating in a bomb of a shot by freshmen Sam Papakonstantino that beat the Milford keeper for his first career goal which iced the 2-1 victory.

The defensive unit of Pat Hession, Andre Dorofeev, Georgio Papakonstantino and Sam Larson were very stingy on the day, locking down a powerful Milford attacking unit.

The team will travel to undefeated Oliver Ames on Friday afternoon looking for another win.

Attleboro sinks Dogs in final minute

It was a great high school soccer game Wednesday night at CHS as the Attleboro Blue Bombadiers visited with hopes of a first-ever win over the Dogs....and they got what they were looking for, defeating the Bulldogs, 3-2.

The Dogs played a great first half but couldn't finish on several good chances as the first frame ended scoreless. Attleboro came out and scored early in the 2nd but the Dogs came storming back on a great individual effort by Damian Kozak- scoring his first goal of the season. The game didn't remain tied for long as Attleboro came right back- scoring on a corner kick. But the 'dogs did not quit, as Eric Wong scored a great header goal off a great ball off the head of Sam Larson on an Andre Dorofeev direct kick. That goal came with just 5 minutes remaining but the 'dogs couldn't hang on for the draw as the Bombadiers caught the Green and White sleeping in the final minute of the game leading to a 3-2 Canton loss.

Art McNally was strong in goal while strong midfield play was put in by Liam Collins and Spencer Cox.

The team will look for its first Hock victory as they travel to Franklin on Monday afternoon.

Dogs fall to NA in Hock Opener

The Bulldogs played quite well on Monday at NA but couldn't overcome an early penalty kick conversion by the Red Rocketeers and fell, 1-0 in their 2013 Hock debut.

The game was played mainly between the 18s as neither team generated a great number of scoring chances. Art McNally came up huge in goal on NA's one good chance of the game (aside from the PK) as he stuffed a clear breakaway chance.

Liam Collins and Tyler Murphy were bright spots for the Bulldogs in the loss.

The team hosts Attleboro on Wednesday night at 6:00pm

O'Brien's two goals lifts 'dogs

Saturday saw the Bulldogs travel to Norwood for a rematch of last fall's first round tournament game that resulted in a penalty shootout win for the Bulldogs. Saturday's game was full of chances for both teams but Bart O'Brien was the only one who managed to find the back of the net in the first frame. After a great pass from Damian Kozak, O'Brien whacked the ball into the far post's side netting to put the visiting team up 1-0 at the break.  O'Brien struck again early in the 2nd frame, calmly slipping the ball past the Norwood keeper after a great combination of Bulldog passes with the final one coming from Liam Collins. A Mustang goal late was part of a late game flurry of chances for the home team, but keeper Art McNally and good defending in the box allowed the 'dogs to hold on for their 2nd win of the young season.

The team will travel to North Attleboro on Monday at 3:30 and host Attleboro at 6:00 on Wednesday as Hockomock League action gets started.

Dogs start off with big Win

Tuesday saw the earliest opening day in program history as the 'dogs got started before school even opened. The game was the first ever match-up between the Bulldogs and the Maurauders and the Bulldogs did not disappoint, besting the visitors, 1-0.  Wolph Gustave broke the scoreless tie midway through the 2nd half on a beautiful volley flicked over the goalkeeper's head. Georgio Papakonstantino provided the pass which led to the goal.

Art McNally earned the shutout in goal.

The team will travel to Norwood on Saturday at noon for a rematch of last year's first round tournament game in which the 'dogs won in a shootout.
