'Dogs falter on the road

The 'dogs never quite got in the swing of things at Franklin on Friday afternoon as they conceded an early goal and struggled to find their way throughout.  The result- a 3-0 loss at the hands of Franklin.

Not much else to report out of this one.  Will Keefe (Jr) was very strong in the back throughout the game.

The squad will look to rebound on the road Monday at Stoughton.

Current record- 1-1-2.

Dogs remain unbeaten after earning come-from-behind draw

The Bulldogs found themselves down a goal for the first time this season when they surrendered a first half goal to Foxboro Tuesday night at home.  But the boys rallied and played a tremendous second half culminating in a goal by Alejandro Correal (Sr)- and it was a beautiful goal.  Jake McCabe (Fr) combined with Jacob Crugnale (So) who dropped the ball to Correal just outside the box.  Correal then hit a rocket of a shot that hit the bottom of the crossbar and slammed into the back of the Warrior goal.  Both teams had a couple of chances the rest of the way but failed to convert with the Davenport clash ending at 1-1.

Correal made several big saves in goal as well, as he played both in goal and in the field. But is wasn't just the Correal show....it was a great team effort. Kudos to David Dempster (Jr), Dylan Baird (So) and Will Keefe (Jr) who were all huge contributors to the victory

The team improves to 1-0-2 on the young season and will head to Franklin (0-1-2) for a clash with the Kelley-Rex team on Friday afternoon at 3:45.

Dogs edge Attleboro in home opener

A Colby Ciffolillo (Jr) penalty conversion late in the 1st half was all that was needed for the Boys Soccer team to earn a win in their home opener over an attacking Attleboro team, 1-0.

As was the case in the first game of the season (a 0-0 draw on the road against Marshfield) the Bulldogs found themselves defending for large parts of the game, but Saturday night's combination of strong goalkeeping and gutsy defending was coupled with a bit more of the ball and attacking attitude.  Impressive attacking play was put in by Erik Valdovinos (So) who was dangerous throughout the game including earning the Bulldog's penalty kick as he was slide tackled in the box on the way to goal. Ciffolillo then converted calmly from the spot to put the 'dogs up for good. Joining Valdovinos in impressive attacking play were David Dempster (Jr), Jacob Crugnale (So) and Jake McCabe (Fr). Starting goalkeeper Alejandro Correal (Sr)  joined the attack for the final 10 minutes of the first half and set up Valdovinos with a great ball that led to the penalty.

Kudos to Cooper Ashcraft (Sr), Will Keefe (Jr) and Johnny Bradley (Sr) who played really well in the Bulldog's back line.

The 'dogs are 1-0-1 after two games and will host highly touted Foxboro on Tuesday at 6:30pm

Dogs gut out huge road point in opener

The Bulldogs boys soccer team took to the road for the first game of the season- heading to D1 Marshfield on Thursday- and earned a hard fought point in a 0-0 draw.

Alejandro Correal (Sr) was massive in the goal for the Bulldogs, notching 11 saves and coming off his line well all game to deny a relentless Ram attack time after time.   Correal had a core of backs playing in front of him who never gave up right until the final whistle. Cooper Ashcraft (Sr), Will Keefe (Jr), Carson Eagles (Fr) and Jorge Sanchez (Fr) made up a solid back four while Matt Giglio (Jr) and Colby Ciffolillo (Sr) anchored the midfield defensively.

The 'dogs did create a few chances on the day but were unable to convert.

The team will host Attleboro in their home opener on Saturday night at 7:00pm.
