'Dogs fight hard but fall in Penalties
It was clear from the start of Tuesday night's First Round Tourney game that it would take a top-notch Bulldog effort for the Bulldogs to unseat the defending Sectional Champion Walpole Rebels on their home field. The 'dogs were up for the challenge. The squad responded to a hard-nosed Rebel team with a great fight of their own, scoring a brilliant goal with just 20 seconds left in the first half when Damian Kozak found Jake Verille on the far post and the freshmen phenom buried his chance.
The 2nd half saw the squad play quite well, answering much of the Rebel puzzle with some strong play but an opportunistic Walpole bounce in the Bulldog box led to a goal knotting it at 1-1. The game would remain tied at 1-1 through regulation and 2 exhausting OT periods, thus moving the game to a penalty shootout.
In penalties, Damian Kozak, Bart O'Brien, Pat Hession and Sammy Papakonstantino each converted from the spot, but all 5 Rebels found the back of the net, ending the Bulldog season.
Goalkeeper Aidan Carr was phenomenal on the day.
The team finishes the season at 9-7-2. The senior class will be missed.

Kozak, O'Brien and Carr honored by Hock- Team for Sportsmanship
The Hockomock League has announced its post-season awards for Boys Soccer and the news in Canton is BIG.
Damian Kozak and Bart O'Brien were each named to the All-Hockomock Team while Aidan Carr was awarded an Honorable Mention to the team. Kozak went one further and became only the 4th Bulldog in program history to be named League MVP of the entire 12-team league- a well deserved honor.
The team was also awarded the coveted Hockomock League Sportsmanship Award for Boys Soccer. This reflects how the rest of the league views the Boys Soccer program here- one of class! Kudos to the entire team for earning this humbling team honor. It marks the 5th time in the past 7 seasons that the team has been named the most sporting in the League. That says a great deal as the Hock is a very sporting league! This year's team received ZERO cards during the regular season.
The team will face Walpole on Tuesday night at 7:00 on the road in the first round of the D2 South MIAA Boys Soccer Tournament.

Seniors shine on their night
The nine senior members of the 2014 squad led the way to a 2-0 victory over Sharon on Monday night at home, wrapping up the regular season with a record of 9-6-2.
Nolan Waterman, Damian Kozak and Spencer Cox played very well in the attack while Bart O'Brien, anchored the midfield. Georgio Papakonstantino, Danny Klein, Brian Regan, and Liam Collins were resolute in holding off a highly motivated Eagle squad and the little that got by them was taken care of by goal keeper Aidan Carr.
Carr earned his 5th shutout of the season, making 6 saves along the way.
Kozak scored both goals, one from the stripe, and in doing so, became the 2nd all-time career scorer in the history of Boys Soccer at CHS. His 2nd goal of the game was enough to pass Michael Denehy- '13 to take the 2nd spot.
The team now awaits its MIAA seeding news as they look toward the postseason.

Qualified!
Tuesday's 4-2 road win over Milford ensured the Boys Soccer team a 9th consecutive trip to the MIAA State Tournament. The win, the team's 2nd straight, saw the Bulldogs surrender the first goal early in the contest but come storming back midway through the 1st half with two Bart O'Brien goals within 1 minute. The 'dogs then seemed to settle in too much which led to a game-tying goal for Milford early in the 2nd half. But O'Brien would soon find a streaking Jake Verille on the far post for a tidy finish and what proved to be the game-winning goal. Verille, a freshman, has scored in both victories this week. Damian Kozak added the insurance goal with a brilliant left footed strike with less than 10 minutes left.
It was a solid team effort but the game was really changed in the first half with the insertion of Spencer Cox into the line-up. Cox sparked a listless squad and really changed the attitude on the field.
The team will travel to Stoughton today (Friday) and host Sharon on Monday night to close out the regular season. The Sharon game will feature a tribute to the graduating senior class of Bulldogs.

'Dogs upset Oliver Ames in big road win
Oliver Ames' road to a 4th straight Davenport Title got a bit tougher after the Bulldogs blanked the Tigers 3-0 on Friday. Joey Basile got the Bulldogs on the board early when he took a perfectly weighted through ball from Damian Kozak and blasted a low shot to the far post, beating the OA keeper. The Green and White spent much of the next 60 minutes defending a relentless Tiger attack but continued to generate chances of their own. Georgio Papakonstantino, Danny Klein, Liam Collins and Brian Regan formed a great defensive back line which kept the Tigers frustrated. Goalkeeper Aidan Carr came up with a couple of huge saves to keep the 1-goal lead late into the game. The Bulldogs then struck twice with a Bart O'Brien goal off a restart followed by Jake Verille's second tally of his freshman season.
The win improves the team's record to 7-5-2 with three big Hock Davenport games remaining.

Big Bulldog Boys Soccer Night at CHS
The Boys Soccer team made it 2-in-a-row with a big 3-0 win over visiting, non-league Norwood on Saturday night behind Damian Kozak's 2nd straight hat trick. The team played well from the opening whistle, not allowing the Mustangs to get any real offense going while generating many chances of their own but it took until late in the first half to find the back of the net. Kozak took a long clearance by Danny Klein and just worked past defenders before tucking home the goal by the far post.
The 2nd half was all Bulldogs highlighted by the 2nd Kozak goal where some great Bulldog offensive movement and a Bart O'Brien pass found Kozak at the top of the box. The Bulldog's leading scorer then blasted a low, hard shot that nailed the far post before hitting the back of the diving Norwood keeper and going in. It was a great shot. Minutes later, Kozak completed the hat trick when he calmly chipped the Mustang net minder off of another O'Brien pass.
It was a tremendous team effort with great performances being put in by Jake Verille, Sam Papakonstantino, and Pat Hession.
During a halftime ceremony, long-time CHS Boys Soccer coach Danny Erickson was officially inducted into the Massachusetts Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame.

Back to Winning Ways
Wednesday saw the squad travel to Taunton and come home with a 4-2 win over the Tigers. The victory ended a tough patch that saw the 'dogs lose three and tie one.
The victory featured an amazing performance from Damian Kozak, who scored 3 goals and assisted on the other. Sammy Papakonstantino registered his 2nd goal of the season while Bart O'Brien (2) and Danny Klein provided the other passes leading to goals. Others playing very well for the Bulldogs were Matas Leveckis and Brian Regan- in his return from injury.
The team will host non-league opponent Norwood on Saturday night at 6:00pm as they look to make it two-in-a-row.
A brief halftime ceremony will take place, inducting coach Danny Erickson into the Massachusetts High School Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame.

Looking to Bounce Back
The Boys Soccer team will host Franklin tomorrow at 3:30 (Monday, Oct. 6) looking to stop a two-game losing streak. The Panthers head to CHS in the top spot in the Kelley-Rex division of the Hockomock, as two-time defending champions, and in the midst of a 9-game unbeaten streak in which they have earned 7 shutouts.
The Bulldogs will look to remain unbeaten at home on the season so something has to give.

Dog's looking to bounce back from 1-1 draw
Big week ahead as the squad travels to Sharon and Attleboro this week for two big Hockomock contests. The 'dogs hold a slim 1-point lead in the Hock Davenport Division but it is clear that the race for the title is wide open.
Last week saw the Bulldogs come from behind to tie up Stoughton at home, 1-1. Once again, the squad was saved by a Damain Kozak goal- this one off the head after a great service by Georgio Papakonstantino.

'Dogs blank Milford in battle for top spot in Davenport
In one of the team's top performances of the season, the Bulldogs bested visiting Milford 3-0 on Saturday night. The game was between two Hock Davenport teams sitting one point behind Foxboro-winner moving past the Warriors into the top spot in the division.
It was a back and forth battle early with both teams creating great chances but with about 10 minutes left in the first half, Joe Mulkay beat two defenders on the right side, exploded into the penalty box and was taken down, earning the 'dogs a PK. Damian Kozak converted the shot from the spot and the Bulldogs took control. Just minutes later Joey Basile beat a Scarlett Hawk on the right side and delivered a great ball across the goal mouth that Jake Verille finished for his first career varsity goal.
Taking a 2-0 lead into the 2nd half, the Bulldogs continued their fine play with Danny Hartnett, Danny Klein, Georgio Papakonstantino, Pat Hession and Sammy Papakonstantino shutting down a very dangerous Milford attacking group. Quick thinking and a high soccer IQ helped Kozak earn his 2nd goal of the game (and 8th of the young season) when he took advantage of Milford's goalkeeper setting up his wall on a CHS direct kick by calmly knocking the ball from 22 yard out into the far half of the open net, icing the 3-0 win.
Goalkeeper Aidan Carr earned his 2nd shutout of the season as the Bulldogs moved into 1st place in the Davenport for the first time in several seasons with a record of 4-1-1.

Kozak goal ties up OA
Damian Kozak's goal off a great pass by Sam Papakonstantino midway through the 2nd half of Wednesday's home game with OA earned the team a 1-1 draw with the 2-time defending champion Tigers.
The visitors had much of the play on the day while the 'dogs seemed to never really get things going. But the defensive effort was strong and held off the attacking Tigers, conceding only an early 1st half goal before Kozak's crafty finish earned the team the big point.
The team will host Milford on Saturday night at 6:00pm in a key Davenport contest.

Dogs drop first contest in final minutes
Not much can be said of the 'dogs first loss of the season, 2-0 at the hands for Davenport foe Foxboro Monday night on the road. CHS was outplayed from start to finish. Senior goalkeeper Aidan Carr kept the 'dogs alive with several big saves throughout the contest, but the Warriors would not be denied of their first win over CHS since 2008, pushing hard to the end and finally breaking down the Bulldogs with just 3 minutes left and then again a 2 minutes later.
The loss drops the team's record to 3-1 heading into Wednesday's contest with OA on Wednesday at 3:30 at CHS.

'Dogs stay perfect after Friday night win
The 'Dogs wrapped up a three game series against Hock Kelley-Rex teams with a 4-0 win over KP Friday night. The win saw the Bulldogs play their best soccer of the season. After battling back-and-forth with the Warriors for the early stretch of the contest, the 'dogs took advantage of a KP defensive mistake and never looked back, taking a 1-0 lead into halftime on the first of two Bart O'Brien goals.
The second half was all Canton as all of the action shifted into the KP side of the field and the Bulldogs created chance after chance. Damian Kozak scored a goal and added an assist, Joey Basile scored a goal on a heads up play in the box, while O'Brien scored another and assisted on both the Kozak and Basile tallies (for a 4 points day).
Perhaps even more impressive than the offensive explosion was the team's defensive performance, completely neutralizing a strong attacking KP squad. Aidan Carr earned his first career shutout in goal while Pat Hession, Danny Klein and Georgio Papakonstantino led a great team defensive effort.
The 'dogs won 68 tackles while losing 61, a major statement against a very strong physical KP squad.
The team will now move on to the always critical Davenport match-ups starting on Monday when they travel to Foxboro to face the much improved Warriors, at 6:30 at Ahern Middle School.

Bulldogs win 2nd in a row to start season
Tuesday night saw the Boys Soccer team win its 2nd game of the season, downing Mansfield, 2-1 on the road and improving to 2-0.
After a poorly played first half, the Bulldogs came alive in the 2nd, creating many chances and capitalizing on one early. Damian Kozak's blast of a shot was saved by the Mansfield keeper but Bart O'Brien cunningly got himself in a good spot to finish off the rebound for his first goal of the season. After that goal, Joey Basile came in off the bench up top and helped the 'dogs to increase the pressure even more, quickly combining with Kozak to provide a great pass for a goal by Kozak.
The 'dogs withstood some tough pressure by the Hornets in the final 12 minutes of the game conceding a goal. The highlight of the Bulldog defensive flurry was an Aidan Carr save on a Mansfield penalty shot.
Danny Klein and Georgio Papakonstantino were both key to a strong Bulldog defensive effort.
The team will host King Philip on Friday night at 6:00pm

'Dogs start off season with 3-2 win over NA
It was a great start to the 2014 season as the Bulldogs downed NA 3-2 Friday night at home.
A strong 1st half effort put the Bulldogs up 1-0 at the break after the first of three goals scored by Damian Kozak. Kozak had combined with Bart O'Brien midway through the half to score the first goal of the season.
The 2nd half started off strong with two more Kozak goals- one on a penalty kick and the other on a great pass from Joe Basile. The hat trick was the first of Kozak's career and moved him ahead of coach Danny Erickson on the Bulldog all-time leading scorer list (to #14).
A late flurry of attack from NA came up short as the Bulldogs held strong for the 3-2 win.
Pat Hession was key to the Bulldog defensive effort while Liam Collins kept the Bulldog attack going throughout the contest.
