Dogs edge Attleboro in home opener

A Colby Ciffolillo (Jr) penalty conversion late in the 1st half was all that was needed for the Boys Soccer team to earn a win in their home opener over an attacking Attleboro team, 1-0.

As was the case in the first game of the season (a 0-0 draw on the road against Marshfield) the Bulldogs found themselves defending for large parts of the game, but Saturday night's combination of strong goalkeeping and gutsy defending was coupled with a bit more of the ball and attacking attitude.  Impressive attacking play was put in by Erik Valdovinos (So) who was dangerous throughout the game including earning the Bulldog's penalty kick as he was slide tackled in the box on the way to goal. Ciffolillo then converted calmly from the spot to put the 'dogs up for good. Joining Valdovinos in impressive attacking play were David Dempster (Jr), Jacob Crugnale (So) and Jake McCabe (Fr). Starting goalkeeper Alejandro Correal (Sr)  joined the attack for the final 10 minutes of the first half and set up Valdovinos with a great ball that led to the penalty.

Kudos to Cooper Ashcraft (Sr), Will Keefe (Jr) and Johnny Bradley (Sr) who played really well in the Bulldog's back line.

The 'dogs are 1-0-1 after two games and will host highly touted Foxboro on Tuesday at 6:30pm
