Keefe and Ciffolillo honored by Hockomock League

Will Keefe- '21
The Hockomock League recently announced their Hockomock All-Stars for Boys Soccer- 2019 season.  Two Bulldogs were honored:

Will Keefe was named to the Hockomock League All-Star Team.  Keefe, a junior, emerged this season as a steadfast, hard working and consistent force in the Bulldog back four.  He was a positive, vocal competitor in the back who was often cleaning up dangerous chances from Hockomock League foes.  He was the perfect bridge between a team of upperclassmen and underclassmen. He played virtually every minute of every game.  His ability to relieve pressure with a long clearance, make a hard, last second tackle or provide a goal-scoring chance with a big throw-in all led to his inclusion as a Hockomock League All-Star.  He will return to CHS Soccer next fall as an established leader and role model.

Colby Ciffolillo- '20
Colby Ciffolillo was named an Honorable Mention to the Hockomock League All-Star Team. Ciffolillo, a senior captain, had been a role player for the Bulldogs during his sophomore and junior seasons- stepping into many roles during those years. But this season, he stepped up to take on the role of leading the Bulldog attack.  His big, athletic presence made him a formidable target striker.  He led the team in scoring this year with three goals and two assists. (Click Here for 2019 individual stats.)

Beyond his major contributions with his head and feet on the field, Ciffolillo was also a great role model for all of his teammates. He will be missed on the pitch next fall. Best of luck to him this winter with the CHS Boys Hockey team.

When you see Will and Colby, be sure to congratulate them on these well-deserved honors!

Seniors Celebrate Victory on Senior Night

2019 Senior Dogs- Jack Stubbs, Johnny Bradley, Colby Ciffolillo
Alejandro Correal, Cooper Ashcraft.
A huge thank you goes out to the five members of our team who played in their final game as soccer Bulldogs last night. Cooper Ashcraft, Johnny Bradley, Colby Ciffolillo, Alejandro Correal and Jack Stubbs have all dedicated so much of their time, works, sweat, care and heart to this program during their time here. We are all lucky to have had them as members of our team.

Last night saw them lead their team to a big 1-0 win over tourney-bound Braintree High School.  Ciffolillo's blistering free-kick early in the 2nd half rattled off the inside of the nearpost and the rebound was pounced on by Dylan Baird who knocked it into an empty goal.  That would be all the Bulldogs would need as the steadfast work of Correal in goal and Ashcraft, Bradley and Stubbs in the back would keep the visiting Wamps scoreless.

The victory puts a positive finish to what has been a challenging season for the 'dogs, but the foundation for success that has been put in place by this group of seniors will pay off in big ways in the future. Thank you Cooper, Johnny, Colby, Hondo and Jack! Best of luck to you all.

'Dogs drop two to Davenport foes

It was two very different performances by the Bulldogs against Milford and Foxboro but both resulted in frustrating losses for the boys.
The Milford game saw the 'dogs fight first place, unbeaten Milford to a 2-1 loss after jumping out to a 1-0 lead on Dylan Baird's first career goal.  The team played really well in defeat.
The Foxboro game was not as positive as the squad allowed 4 second half goals in a 5-1 loss (Baird with the lone Bulldog goal.)
The team hosts Stoughton on Friday at 6:30pm.

'Dogs end skid with big home win

Goals by Colby Ciffolillo ('20) and Jacob Crugnale ('22) led the Bulldogs to a 2-1 victory over Taunton High School Saturday night at CHS.  The win ends a 6-game skid that saw the 'dogs improve throughout the string of poor results, but struggle to score.  Scoring was not a problem on Saturday night as the 'dogs scored two nice goals from the flow of play- one in each half.

The first half Bulldog tally saw TJ McCabe ('21) pounce on a 2nd ball just in Canton's end and play a perfect ball to his little brother Jake McCabe ('23) on the other side of the field.  The younger McCabe then calmly blasted a shot towards the far post that was saved by the Taunton keeper- but Jacob Crugnale made a great run to the far post and was rewarded with an open goal that he placed by the diving Taunton keeper.  Crugnale's goal is his 2nd in as many games.

The second half Canton goal saw TJ McCabe and classmate Matt Giglio ('21) both win head balls with Giglio's perfectly finding Colby Ciffolillo in a seam in the Tiger defense. Ciffolillo then played a great touch through to himself and tucked in the ball to the far post- classy finish.

Taunton would cut the lead in half with less than 5 minutes to play but the Bulldogs defended hard until the final whistle preserving the home victory.

The win was a true team effort as contributions were put in by so many including Jay Kelleher ('22), Dom Sica ('21), Erik Valdovinos ('22), Johnny Bradley ('20) and Colton Mirliani ('21) all coming off the Bulldog bench to add key minutes of play in the win.

CHS Boys Soccer teams joins fight to end Sanfilippo Syndrome

Connor Dobbyn
The Canton High School Boys Varsity and JV Soccer teams will be hosting a double-header with North Attleboro High School on Thursday, October 24th at CHS' WWII Veterans' Memorial Field. JV kickoff at 4:30 and Varsity kickoff at 6:30pm.

The games will be in support of Connor Dobbyn's fight to beat Sanfilippo Syndrome. Connor is the son of CHS Boys Soccer alum Michael Dobbyn (class of 1995).  The eleven year old was recently diagnosed with the extremely rare Sanfilippo Syndrome.  As of today there is no known cure for this fatal condition. Connor's family has taken on the challenge of saving their little boy's life by raising money and awareness about this terrible disease- often referred to as childhood Alzheimer's.

Our 2019 teams will be wearing purple jerseys with Connor's name on them for the game. We will also be helping to spread the word about Sanfilippo Syndrome.  Please help us start that by sharing this post and following all of the social media pages set up in support of this effort. We also ask that you consider making a donation to this important fight today.

Michael, as well as his brothers Ryan and Chris, are part of our strong CHS Boys Soccer alumni family.  They are in serious need from us all at this time.  Please help any way you can.

Please consider attending our games on 10/24 where we will take the fight to beat Sanfilippo to the pitch!

Below is Michael's original Facebook post sharing the news of Connor's battle ahead:

I have some truly heart-wrenching information to share with all of you. Just a few months ago, my family received news that no parent should ever hear or could ever be prepared for... My wonderful and loving son Connor, who recently just celebrated his 11th birthday in June, was diagnosed with a rare, genetic disease called Sanfilippo Syndrome – often referred to as “Childhood Alzheimer’s”.
In short, Sanfilippo Syndrome is a rapidly-degenerative, fatal brain disease that will soon take over his brain and his body and will result in his losing the ability to talk, walk and feed himself. There is no cure and no current way to slow the progression of this disease. Without a cure, we will likely lose him before the age of 20.
It is impossible to put into words just how this made me feel as his father, because my kids are my EVERYTHING. But one thing that I do know is that Connor Dobbyn is NOT going down without a fight. And I simply REFUSE to accept that outcome as his predetermined fate without doing everything in my power to help him win this battle.
After pouring every ounce of my energy (over the past few months) into researching and learning as much as possible about this horrific disease - and relentlessly networking my way across the Sanfilippo community (connecting with families, advocacy leaders, foundations, etc.) - I have grown more hopeful by the day. I am now absolutely convinced that there is enough progress being made with the science to have REAL HOPE in beating this.
My family has made the decision to partner with the Cure Sanfilippo Foundation to aggressively pursue an ambitious fundraising and advocacy campaign that will one day bring Sanfilippo Syndrome type C clinical trials to the starting line and ultimately save lives.
We are going ALL IN and intend to FIGHT LIKE HELL for Connor and other Sanfilippo children and families everywhere. But the bottom line is this: It won’t happen without YOUR help. Stay tuned as we will be reaching out with more information as we begin mobilizing and moving this fight forward for Connor and the rest of our Sanfilippo community. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly with any ideas, questions, and potential advocacy and fundraising leads that you may have.
Please SHARE this post and please tell others about this disease, because so few have ever even heard of it. If you’re able to make a financial contribution, please visit www.ConnorBeatsSanfilippo.com.
From the bottom of my heart, please know that your support, thoughts, prayers and ACTION are immensely appreciated at this difficult time. I believe with every fiber of my being that, together we can and will make a difference – not just for Connor, but for all of the brave and courageous Sanfilippo families waging battles to save their children as well.
