'Dogs end skid with big home win

Goals by Colby Ciffolillo ('20) and Jacob Crugnale ('22) led the Bulldogs to a 2-1 victory over Taunton High School Saturday night at CHS.  The win ends a 6-game skid that saw the 'dogs improve throughout the string of poor results, but struggle to score.  Scoring was not a problem on Saturday night as the 'dogs scored two nice goals from the flow of play- one in each half.

The first half Bulldog tally saw TJ McCabe ('21) pounce on a 2nd ball just in Canton's end and play a perfect ball to his little brother Jake McCabe ('23) on the other side of the field.  The younger McCabe then calmly blasted a shot towards the far post that was saved by the Taunton keeper- but Jacob Crugnale made a great run to the far post and was rewarded with an open goal that he placed by the diving Taunton keeper.  Crugnale's goal is his 2nd in as many games.

The second half Canton goal saw TJ McCabe and classmate Matt Giglio ('21) both win head balls with Giglio's perfectly finding Colby Ciffolillo in a seam in the Tiger defense. Ciffolillo then played a great touch through to himself and tucked in the ball to the far post- classy finish.

Taunton would cut the lead in half with less than 5 minutes to play but the Bulldogs defended hard until the final whistle preserving the home victory.

The win was a true team effort as contributions were put in by so many including Jay Kelleher ('22), Dom Sica ('21), Erik Valdovinos ('22), Johnny Bradley ('20) and Colton Mirliani ('21) all coming off the Bulldog bench to add key minutes of play in the win.
